When and where to watch the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Humber Flotilla

New details have been released in anticipation of a spectacular Platinum Jubilee Flotilla which is set to take to the Humber.

Seventy vessels are scheduled to take part in the mass event on Thursday, 2 June as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Pleasure boats, lifeboats and trawlers are among the craft that will parade from Minerva Pier, alongside Hull Marina, to the Humber Bridge. The flotilla will then turn and head back in the direction of the city – all while an anticipated crowd of thousands cheers on from both banks of the estuary.

Viewing points will be set up on Victoria Pier, as well as St Andrew’s Quay, Waters’ Edge Country Park and Hessle Foreshore.

The initial plans were released by organisers Hessle Town Council back in January but further details around timings have now been shared.

Here’s where and when the flotilla will be visible:

  • 6:15pm: Flotilla gathers at Victoria Pier, Hull

  • 7:00pm: Departure from Victoria Pier, passing Albert and St Andrew’s Docks

  • 8:15pm: Flotilla passes Hessle and reaches the Humber Bridge before turning and heading back to Hull

  • 9:45pm: Hessle’s Beacon is lit

Please note that all timings are approximate.

Four locations have been designated as the best spots to watch the event. These are:

  • Victoria Pier

  • St Andrew’s Quay, Hull

  • Waters’ Edge Country Park, Barton-upon-Humber

  • Hessle Foreshore

Bridlington-based pleasure cruiser The Yorkshire Belle, which was built in Beverley and a replica of Lord Nelson’s Royal Navy Schooner HMS Pickle will both be in the flotilla.

The event is one of thousands being held across the UK to mark 70 years of the Queen’s reign and will act as a prelude to 1,500 beacons being lit nationally – one of which stands at Hessle Foreshore.
