Green Tip of the Month

A new road to unclog the A63 and Hull city centre is one of the key pillars of the Lagoon Hull project.

With car engines not sitting idle, carbon emissions will be reduced to the benefit of the climate and the people of the city.

But why wait? With the cost of living at the front of people’s minds, eco-driving is one consideration to help cut costs. Keeping your car regularly maintained can improve fuel efficiency by up to 10 per cent, according to the RAC Foundation.

Other top tips include:
  • Open windows instead of using air conditioning (up to 40mph)
  • Remove unused roof racks
  • Check tyre pressures
  • Cut out sharp acceleration and heavy breaking
Why Lagoon Hull?

Lagoon Hull has the ability to transform our region, building a city where people are proud to live and love to visit.

Transport Changes

Leads Road - one of north Hull’s major routes – will be closed overnight for one weekend as part of the Stoneferry Road Corridor scheme.

Carriageway resurfacing means the road will be shut between Rotterdam Road and Bandstand Roundabout between 7pm on Friday 29th July and 6am on Monday 1st August.

The aim of the wider work is to speed up the average travel time between Bransholme, Kingswood, and the heart of the city to prepare for new business and site expansions in an area that currently suffers from heavy congestion at peak times.

"Did you know?"

Hull’s Tidal Barrier has been in place for more than 40 years, protecting tens of thousands of homes from flooding around the River Hull.

Built in 1980, the 30-metre-wide gate is one of the most dominant landmarks on the city’s horizon. But did you know it’s actually the second biggest flood barrier in the UK?

Only London’s Thames Barrier, 520 metres in width, is larger.
