The Headlines

Momentum continues to build towards Hull’s bright new future, centred around the most transformative project in a generation – Lagoon Hull.

Alex Sobel, Shadow Minister for Nature Recovery and the Domestic Environment, has become the latest MP to visit the project team to find out more about how it will provide 19,000 new jobs, boost the wider economy, increase the Humber’s flood protection and ease traffic congestion… the list goes on.
The Easter holiday is in full swing but it’s just the first in a run of Bank Holidays to come over the next couple of months.

We’re counting down the days and weeks to a bonus four-day weekend to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee from 2 June to 5 June. As part of the Hull and East Yorkshire celebrations, a 70-strong flotilla will travel along the Humber, culminating in a beacon being lit at Hessle Foreshore.
As a key supporter of the event, we’ve been given a sneak peek at the timings for the big day to help our supporters know where to be and when.
Get ahead of the game by checking out the latest plans

Phantom power - the energy that still flows into your devices when on standby – can account for significant usage as they still need a certain amount of power to keep them functioning at their lowest possible capacity, ready to switch back on at the click of a button.

Transport Changes

The six-week closure of Humber Street ended on Friday, March 19th.

Bollards are being fitted outside Dinostar to block vehicular access to the street which is popular with shoppers and diners.

Public access has been maintained throughout the course of the work and will continue to be available until its completion.
"Did you know?"

It’s just Hull – or ‘Ull to its friends - but Kingston-upon-Hull is its official title.

The name Kings-town upon Hull was given to the city by King Edward I as part of the 1299 Charter. It allowed Hull to become its own self-governing community which included the right to hold its own court and market.

The original document is still in the city today and is stored at the Hull History Centre.
